Sulley Muntari confirms speaking with an agent over PSL Move

Former Black Stars midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari has confirmed media reports linking him with a move to South Africa after he revealed holding talks with an agent.

Muntari has been without a club since leaving Spanish second-tier side Albacete in June 2019 after a six-month loan spell. He has since been keeping himself in shape by training alone in his native country.

“I spoke to an agent. He gave me a call. I have forgotten his name. Sipho…I don’t know how to pronounce his name,” Muntari told Marawa Sports Worldwide on Metro FM.

According to the reports, topsides, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns are the teams to have expressed interest in his services.

Muntari’s glittering career includes winning the English FA Cup with Portsmouth and also played for Premier League side Sunderland.

He started his career in Europe with Udinese and also featured for AC Milan in the Italian Serie A.

Sulley Ali Muntari also played one season for Saudi top-flight Al Ittihad.

Thomas Partey picks maiden EPL assist as Arsenal hammer Newcastle United

Thomas Party

Thomas Partey provided his first Arsenal assist in the Premier League during their 3-0 victory against Newcastle United on Monday.

The Ghana international, who joined Arsenal from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window, after the Gunners triggered the £45million release clause in his contract, stepped off the bench for the final 21 minutes against Palace, handing a huge boost to Arteta ahead of a busy period of the season.

Having made his return to action via the bench against Palace, the midfield enforcer was named in the starting line-up for the Newcastle United encounter. Following a cagey first half, Arsenal opened the scoring through talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 50th minute.

The Gabon star was released with a vintage long pass by Partey before slotting his shot past Magpies goalkeeper Karl Darlow. After his goal contribution, manager Arteta replaced the versatile midfielder with Mohammed Elneny on the 60th-minute mark.

Arsenal went on to bag the maximum points through goals from Bukayo Saka and Aubameyang’s second strike. The win takes Arsenal to 10th on the standings with 27 points from 19 games.

‘I would swap Dybala for Kane instead of Pogba’ – Capello

The former Bianconeri boss doesn’t think it would make any sense for his old club to exchange the “special” Argentine for the midfielder, Pogba.

manchester united midfielder paul pogba

Fabio Capello has admitted he would like to see Harry Kane join Juventus, and that he’d swap Paulo Dybala for the Tottenham striker instead of Paul Pogba.

Dybala has been heavily linked with a move away from Juve in recent weeks, with the attacker yet to commit to fresh terms at the Allianz Stadium.

Goal has reported that the Argentine turned down the chance to extend his stay at the Allianz Stadium beyond 2022 over the summer, with the Bianconeri’s offer deemed too low by both the player and his representatives.

Ghana’s Otto Addo named the Assistant Coach of Borussia Dortmund

Otto Addo Dortmund
Otto Addo

Former Ghana International Otto Addo has been named as the assistant coach of Borussia Dortmund after the club decided to part ways with their head coach Lucien Favre following a 5-1 humiliation at the hands of newly-promoted Stuttgart on Saturday.

The embarrassing defeat leaves BVB fifth in the Bundesliga, five points off the pace of leaders Bayern Munich, whose 24 points are matched by RB Leipzig.

By contrast, Dortmund has earned only four points in their last five matches, although they did make impressive progress in the Champions League, finishing first in Group F ahead of Lazio.

Nonetheless, Dortmund have run out of patience after 11 games of the new campaign, deciding to sack Favre and appoint assistant Edin Terzic as interim boss until the end of the current season.

Confirming the news, the official Twitter handle of the German club said: “Assistant coach Edin Terzic has been appointed as interim manager until the end of the current season. Terzic’s coaching team will be joined by Sebastian Geppert and Otto Addo”.

The move is further testament of how highly respected Otto Addo is at the club.

Addo, who is a former player of the Yellow and Blacks, was announced as the side’s ‘talent coach’ last year.

The role which was created for the Ghanaian is to serve as a link between the youth and senior teams.

He is responsible for helping to promote Borussia Dortmund’s most talented youngsters to the senior squad and is in charge of their supervision and additional training.

The BVB elite talent coach would now have to help as Edin Terzic attempts to halt the club’s poor run in the league this season.

The former Black Star player was at the club between 1999 and 2005, making 98 Bundesliga appearances (16 goals) and winning the 2002 Bundesliga title during his time with Dortmund.

Born in Germany, Addo represented Ghana at the World Cup in 2006, making two appearances at the event as the Black Stars reached the round of 16.

Breaking: Diego Maradona has died at age 60

Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60 after suffering a cardiac arrest, according to multiple reports. The football legend had a heart attack at his home just two weeks after leaving the hospital where he underwent surgery on a blot clot in his brain.

Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, helped Argentina win the World Cup in 1986, the pinnacle of an illustrious career. He played club football for Boca Juniors, Napoli, and Barcelona among others, and was adored by millions for his brilliant skills.

Maradona was responsible for the infamous ‘Hand of God’ that eliminated England from the 1986 tournament. The Argentine news outlet Clarin broke the news on Wednesday afternoon UK time, describing the news of Maradona’s passing as having a ‘worldwide impact’.

Soon, tributes were pouring in from all over the world of football. Maradona left the hospital on November 11 just eight days after being admitted for emergency brain surgery.

The iconic former Argentinian footballer has driven away from the private Olivos Clinic just before 6 pm on Wednesday as hundreds of fans of photographers tried to get a glimpse of him. Maradona was hospitalized the previous week and had to have an emergency operation to remove a blood clot from his brain.

Argentinian TV reporters traveling on motorbikes filmed the ambulance carrying him leaving before following the vehicle to transmit every inch of his journey.
